ROLLING RECRUITMENT
- We are always looking for great teachers and therapists to join us! If you are looking for the right balance of challenge and opportunity in a role at one of our therapeutic special schools, please share your interest at work@ohs.uk.
- We employ qualified teachers but also welcome talented people ambitious to qualify as teachers.
- The specialist nature of our schools, and our pupils' need for consistency, means we are unable to accommodate student/trainee placements; make use of volunteers; offer sponsorship or employ part-time, agency or supply staff.
REFERRAL AWARDS
- We offer referral awards to existing OHS colleagues for recommending people who come to work with us.
SHARE YOUR INTEREST
- Please email your CV and a brief statement outlining why you would like to work at OHS and how you feel your experience makes you a suitable candidate to work@ohs.uk.
- Please ensure you include the job title and school site you are interested in working at in your email. Those demonstrating suitability will be invited to an informal meeting with a senior member of our team.
APPLY
- Having expressed an initial interest, visited our schools, and met informally with a senior leader, suitable applicants will be asked to formalise their candidacy by completing both our application and self-disclosure forms:
- Please download, complete electronically in full and return to work@ohs.uk.
- Please download, print, complete by hand in full and bring with you on the day of your formal interview in a sealed envelope.
TRIAL VISIT & FORMAL INTERVIEW
- Applicants who are shortlisted will be required to attend a trial visit and teach a lesson (if applicable) before a formal interview.
- An online search will be carried out on all shortlisted candidates.
SAFEGUARDING
- We expect all staff to share our commitments to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils. Our vacancies are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
- Pre-employment checks will be carried out, professional references will be sought and successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check and other relevant checks with statutory bodies.
- We comply with the DBS code of practice. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us; the nature of the position and the circumstances and context of your offences will be considered. If you are unsure whether you need to disclose criminal information, you should seek legal advice or you may wish to contact Nacro or Unlock for impartial advice. There is more information on filtering and protected offences on the Ministry of Justice website. You may also find this flowchart useful.
